Updates to Our Legacy Edition Floor Mats

Our black MITA NSX Legacy Edition Floor Mats have been a top seller, but we saw areas where we could push the design further.  We visited the mats and made a few key upgrades. The new version now features: Each change was made with intention to enhance usability without straying from the iconic aesthetic that NSX owners value.  These upgrades apply to both left-hand drive and right-hand drive models. Every set still comes with the pre-attached MITA NSX Legacy Edition Plaque on the driver’s mat.  We are proud of the response to our NSX Legacy Edition Floor Mats. Next up? Meet the New MITA 02 Wheel

Last month, we launched the redesigned MITA 02 Wheel. This wasn’t just for looks; this was driven by our desire for every small detail to match exactly to the original design. We found key areas to refine the wheel without compromising on performance, resulting in a wheel that’s better than the previous in all the right ways. We reworked the spoke shape to stay true to the original look while still offering brake clearance for BBK setups. Another key update is the switch to ball-seated lug holes instead of tapered lugs. These changes resulted in a lighter wheel, ideal for those who value responsiveness and performance. The color options were narrowed down to just three: Championship White, Washi Grey Metallic, and BMW Asahi Silver. We kept only the most essential, timeless finishes that truly complement the 02 wheel. For drivers seeking something extra personal, you now have the option to include the NSX-R logo on any finish. We also repositioned the etchings to create a more cohesive look across our entire wheel line up. This small change ensures that every MITA wheel follows the same design and is instantly recognizable. Every detail matters to us – the redesigned 02 is our way of preserving the NSX-R legacy. A Breakdown of the NSX-R Wing

One notable feature of the NSX-R is its rear wing, which plays a crucial role in the car’s handling and overall performance. There are several misconceptions regarding the NSX-R wing, especially when comparing OEM versions to aftermarket alternatives. The wings produced by MITA Motorsports closely follow the original NSX-R shape, while other aftermarket options may differ in fitment, curvature, or additional design changes. One key difference is how the wing mounts on the trunk. The OEM NSX-R wing extends further down, following the natural flow of the trunk and integrating smoothly with the trunk’s lines. In contrast, some aftermarket versions are designed to fit similarly to the standard non-R wings. Another noticeable difference is the curvature. The original design is meant to optimize airflow and features a curve that seamlessly blends in with the car’s body lines. While some aftermarket versions maintain this original curvature, others feature a flatter shape or an added lip to increase downforce. It’s also worth noting that while some companies have sold large numbers of NSX-R-style wings, the popularity of these designs doesn’t necessarily mean they replicate the true shape of the original. The design variations found in certain aftermarket wings may look similar at a glance, but they don’t fully reflect the original aerodynamic features of the 02R wing.  Ultimately, the choice comes down to personal preference and priorities. We encourage enthusiasts to explore the available options and select the wing that best suits their vision for their NSX. For those seeking an authentic NSX-R look, options from MITA Motorsports maintain the original shape and fitment of the NSX-R wing. From Fiberglass to Carbon Kevlar – Upholding the NSX-R Bucket Seats

The iconic bucket seats in the 1992 NSX-R, 1997 NSX Type S, and 2002 second-generation NSX-R almost took a different path. Recaro initially proposed using fiberglass, a common material in automotive applications due to its low cost, for the seat shells. However, Honda’s NSX development team had higher ambitions. They rejected the idea outright, recognizing that fiberglass would be too heavy to meet the NSX’s uncompromising performance goals. Recaro responded with an extraordinary alternative: carbon aramid composite. Aramid fibers, known for being lightweight and incredibly strong material, were typically reserved for racing cars, not production vehicles. This advanced composite material, especially the high-performance Kevlar variant, was a breakthrough in automotive seat design. Even Recaro doubted the proposal would be accepted due to its high cost and complexity; however, Honda surprised them by saying “yes.” This bold decision made the seats lighter, stronger, and set a new benchmark for innovation in mass-produced sports cars. This same dedication and commitment to excellence is what drives MITA Motorsports NSX Type R Style Sports Seats. Like Honda, we refused to compromise with fiberglass. Instead, we meticulously crafted our shells using five layers of carbon fiber. A final layer of dry carbon Kevlar, one of the most well-known types of aramid, is included for added strength and the signature weave. Every detail of our seats reflects Honda’s groundbreaking vision, down to the ergonomic design and authentic NSX-R fabrics. The NSX-R’s bucket seats embody a refusal to settle for “good enough,” a mindset we apply to every project. Fiberglass might have been easier and cheaper, but just as Honda proved decades ago, true performance demands innovation. Crafted by the Original Designers We teamed up with the same original Honda designers who worked on the S2000 production to ensure every detail of our seat covers is perfect. These designers were directly involved in crafting the S2000 interior, so you’ll find that our seat covers are a true OEM+ solution that combines authenticity with modern comfort. Premium Materials and Custom Fit The seat covers are made from premium materials to ensure long-lasting comfort and durability. They feature Type R black suede combined with Type R jersey fabric in the center. Both AP1 and AP2 styles are available in two color options: black or red. Helmet holes are featured in the headrest for AP1 Seats (2001-2005) and AP2 Seats (2006-2007). The seat covers are not compatible with 2008-2009 seats due to their taller headrest design. Crafting the Iconic Dry Carbon Type R Seat Shells

The creation of our dry carbon Type R seat shells is a meticulous process that balances advanced engineering with a deep respect for NSX-R heritage. Every seat shell is built to capture the spirit of the original NSX-R by using a blend of modern materials, precise craftsmanship, and authentic design elements. The process begins with the careful layering of five sheets of carbon fiber, each sheet contributing to the shell’s strength, durability, and signature look. The Kevlar layers add essential reinforcement to the structural stability. The outermost layer features an instantly recognizable pattern that complements the shell’s rigidity while adding visual depth and sophistication. These layers are expertly aligned and placed onto a custom mold that is crafted to mirror the exact shape and ergonomics of the NSX-R seat. This custom mold is a cornerstone in achieving the distinctive shape and structural integrity MITA Motorsports is known for. Custom molding of NSX-R seat Following the mold process, the layered shell undergoes a vacuum autoclave process. Over the course of half a day, the shell is subjected to controlled heat and pressure to bond each layer into a unified, solid structure. This phase eliminates any trapped air pockets, resulting in a lightweight, yet durable shell. After autoclaving, CNC machines precisely trim the edges to ensure that each shell conforms to the NSX-R’s exact ergonomic specifications, down to the smallest detail. The next stage is polishing, which involves a full day dedicated to refining the shell’s surface. Our craftsmen start with rough sanding to remove any minor imperfections left from autoclaving. They later progress to finer sandpapers to achieve a flawless finish that highlights the intricate Kevlar weave and prepares the shell for its final paint application. Refining the shell’s surface for a perfect finish Painting is a multi-day process, with each coat of high-gloss paint meticulously applied and dried over two to three days. The glossy finish not only amplifies the depth of the carbon and Kevlar layers, but also protects the shell from the wear and tear associated with high-performance driving. This reflective, high-gloss coating brings a new dimension to the iconic Kevlar pattern, making it visible and striking from every angle. Finished shell that instantly recognizable Kevlar pattern Once painted, each shell is sent to Studio6Zero for upholstery. Here, precision-cut urethane padding is installed to meet the NSX-R’s ergonomic standards, providing a balance of support and comfort for the driver. The padding is then covered with the original NSX-R fabric, ensuring the seat shells remain true to their legacy in both look and feel. The fabric is carefully tailored to highlight the shell’s contours, bringing an elegant yet functional finish to the seat. Final product after adding padding and upholstery The end result is a dry carbon Type R seat shell that exemplifies MITA Motorsports’ dedication to quality, authenticity, and innovation. Each shell, with its distinctive Kevlar pattern, advanced carbon layering, and original NSX-R fabrics, offers a driving experience that is both true to its heritage and engineered for the modern era.
