The OEM Honda NSX-R Engine Hood Prop Rod allows mounting of the NSX-R or NSX-S maintenance lids. Originally the prop rod to have the engine bay lid open is through the middle; however, with the NSX-S and NSX-R, they introduced an aluminum mesh style engine lid that is propped up by the side. Any NSX-R or NSX-S style maintenance lids can make use of this prop rod to allow the engine lid to be lifted up; however, with many fiberglass and carbon fiberglass model engine lids, doing this causes one side to droop down due to their poor manufacturing and poor sustainability. This prop rod setup is only suggested for aluminum maintenance lids such as ours or the OEM Honda NSX-R/NSX-S versions.
The prop rod set up contains multiple brackets to keep the prop rod installed properly to the NSX. If coming from an original NSX, the old prop rod system needs to be properly removed to install this setup.
Disclaimer: For proper installation of the prop rod bracket, two M6 hole must be drilled into the frame to accommodate the appropriate bolts.
