Honda NSX-R Maintenance Lid Prop Rod Kit

This kit integrates the OEM NSX-R–style engine hood prop rod system to enable side-mounted support operation for the MITA NSX-R Maintenance Lid. Designed specifically around the construction and geometry of the MITA aluminum mesh maintenance lid, the system replaces the factory center-mounted support configuration used on standard NSX platforms with a lightweight, factory-inspired side support solution.

The kit utilizes OEM Honda components, including:

• Engine maintenance lid open stay
• Stay grommet
• Rod holder bracket A
• Flange bolt 6×16 (x2)

The installation replicates the NSX-R/NSX-S style maintenance lid support arrangement while maintaining proper prop rod positioning, secure retention, and smooth operation.

Engineering Validation

Validation is limited exclusively to:

• OEM NSX-R / NSX-S engine lid applications
• MITA NSX-R Maintenance Lid applications

Aftermarket fiberglass and carbon-fiberglass engine lids may exhibit variations in material stiffness, thickness, reinforcement layout, and dimensional accuracy. Due to these inconsistencies, this kit is not approved for use on non-MITA or non-OEM panels.

Installation on unsupported engine lids may result in improper bracket alignment, panel deformation, reduced retention strength, and accelerated fatigue of the lid structure.

Installation Requirements

Installation requires permanent modification to the maintenance lid structure.

Because the OEM-style rod holder bracket must be mounted in a precise factory-style location, drilling of mounting holes is required. Proper measurement and alignment are critical to ensure:

• Correct rod holder positioning
• Proper clearance with the lid reinforcement structure
• Smooth prop rod engagement
• Long-term structural reliability

The installer must verify final positioning before drilling. Incorrect installation may affect lid operation and structural integrity.

Professional installation is recommended for applications where precise drilling and alignment cannot be performed with appropriate accuracy.
